Airbus 321 lands in cornfield. All survive.

Ironically, the corn field may be the reason the gulls were there in the first place.
MCI has that situation, although no one has crashed yet. Because of the floods the farmer was unable to harvest the corn. The standing water, high vegetation and good food has attracted more water foul than normal in the area.
MCI has the highest bird strike rate in the country according the airport bird guy, whom we were talking to after a bird strike.

MCI was built there because of the old MKC (KC Missouri) landings were “like in a tea cup”. Briarcliff cliffs at the north end. Downtown skyscrapers on the south. Difficult for anything over a Connie to land (although 747s have successfully landed.)
Also, right across the Missouri River, TWA had their overhaul base at the Fairfax (KC Kansas) Airport. It flooded in 1951.
So they need a new overhaul base, which then became the site of all the commercial flights. It was located, “way out of town (13 miles from downtown) in the middle of the cornfields”. No tea pot problem. No one thought crows would be a problem.
