Default how many standards/line checks is typical?

I think a line check is due every 2 years (?) .. at my company we do standards checks as well- some random, some when the other guy is due and you’re a part of the crew..
Question is: how often do most people have a check airmen in the jumpseat observing you, on average??
it seems like at YV we do WAYYYY more than other shops. Is that true or just my imagination?
I’d say at least once/month it happens.

A line check is an annual event at every airline I've worked at. Your sim schedule depends on the airline, AQP or not. YOu can have x2 annual sims and line check. You can also get FAA random line checks at any time. If you're getting a lot of THOSE, then the FAA is concerned (about the company or you specifically).

FO line checks are not required, but if the CA gets a line check, so does the FO. An FO could one every trip if his luck is bad enough. If the FO gets a scheduled line check, that's bad.

I don't mind line checks, I do mind line checks on transcons. They can see everything they need to see between PHX and LAX.

I conducted two sets of line between EGPK and EGAC. About a 30 minute block. Saw all I needed to see in those short legs.

Our OM-D requires Annual Line Checks for both PICs and SICs

I may have a record.

I once had five line checks in one day, two legs.

Leg one, domicile to training base, check Captain going to work gives checkride on way to work, FAA also jumps on and gives checkride. On the way back to domicile, new check Captain giving first actual check ride gives us a check, while being checked by his check Captain, who gives all of us a backup check. Then the FAA also jumps on to give everybody a check.

This was in a 744, so there were enough jumpseats for everybody.

that likely is a record!
i don’t mind them- just do your job and all should be good. And most check airmen at my shop are great: it can be a learning experience as well- but I don’t like when you have the rare check airmen who thinks he’s holier than thou and an aviation god and nit-picks everything...... and then you find out later that he’s far from perfect himself.

Figure out where all the Check Airmen in your equipment/base commute in from and bid to avoid flights to those stations.
