I doubt this was her only misstep.
This was probably the only one they could pin on her.
As I suspected there is more, quite a bit more.
A 709 for taxiing into another airplane and “voluntary” surrender of her DPE after a hand propping accident.
So the bridge was strike 3.

Because she had enforcement action that was settled with a successful 709 ride five years ago, it justifies revocation of all certificates for a flight under a bridge?

Bull****.

The two previous incidents seem like very honest mistakes, maybe worthy of extra scrutiny for a DPE.

They probably added fuel to the fire for the last one, which was obviously not an honest mistake.

Even more to the story:

https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/...nybK5xEcXhYkT0

From the article:

The agency used a new section of its Legal Enforcement Actions guidebook for FAA staff, which calls for revocation of a certificate for “operating an aircraft without activated transponder or ADS-B Out transmission ... for purposes of evading detection.””

Could be bad timing, could be that she did it on purpose and is a liar. The only one who knows for sure is her, but the FAA certainly think they do too.

Sadly, I feel like it’s only a matter of time before ADS-B becomes/is used as a tool of control by the government. It’s the equivalent of a red light camera that you carry with you.

That was intended for people committing serious felonies, ie smuggling. Hope it doesn't become a ten-pound hammer for minor airspace violations. Old transponders are notoriously hit-and-miss, although modern digital gadgets like those that implement ADS-B should be more reliable. The new ones might even know the difference between a failure and being turned off at the switch.

I even met a guy who told me that years ago he had his static system rigged so he could pump it up with a hand pump to give lower-than-actual mode C while doing traffic watch to make his job easier (he said he didn't cheat by much... )

Could be bad timing but... Occam's razor.

We had very little expectation or privacy/freedom in aviation to begin with, ADS-B just makes it easier to monitor us.

I bet there was an SOB in the office pushing for revocation.

It’s all in print - table of penalties. When you do it on purpose Compliance action goes out the window.

That's correct, wouldn't expect any compliance action for flying under a bridge and the ADS-B thing was a lot of fuel on that fire.

Used to be that we just turned off the damn transponder.

A government agency pushing its authority far beyond the original intended purpose? Nah, that never happens.
