Absolutely. And one bad ass Metroliner pilot. Does Key Lime Air have TCAS? Would it have helped?

When I was there the only freighters that had TCAS had it when they were purchased. Not sure I ever flew this one (if I did the registration has changed.)

looks like the cirrus waaay overshot his turn for 17R

Almost sounded like KL didn't know he'd been hit... reported an engine failure, and he sounded waaaay cooler on the radio than most folks would have been after a midair with half the fuselage gone. Or maybe he's just that cool, good job regardless.

Agreed, feel like an engine issue would have been the least of his worries, lol. Glad everyone made it out safely!

Naw, he got hit from the right behind the CG, which probably yawed the airplane significantly to the right, like a loss of right torque would.

That was my thought: loud bang, big yaw to the right... just like in the sim.

Radar indicated 140kt GS on the SR22 in the downwind leg, increasing to 150kt+ in the turn to base leg. Not surprised he overshoots the turn to final.

Think the proper title for this thread is that a Cirrus ran into the Metroliner who was on a straight in final.

Ha. Exactly! And the Cirrus even called him in sight.

The tone in Key Limes voice is shockingly chill (and awesome). Almost like “Awww darn. Not again. This happened three times last week. Guess I’ll just continue.” [emoji23] Well done, sir!
