-16 fatal crashes in 2021, compared to 8 in 2020
-46 fatalities vs 18 in 2020
-23 killed in 6 crashes of N-Numbered business jets in 2021 compared to 4 killed in a single accident in 2020 (inflight breakup of a Citation 501)
-All 6 Fatal accidents happened during Part 91 flights.

Yes, it might have been double, due to all of the wealthy travelers avoiding both airlines and lockdowns.
Since 91/135 planes are more likely to be parked idle than say fracs, that sector probably had the innate capacity to instantly ramp up the flight hours.

There was a huge explosion in biz jet sales towards the end of 2021 because of a tax depreciation or some such issue. Some articles I read suggested many of these 1st time buyers didn't have the luxury of doing due diligence and they're going to have some rude surprises.

Law of small numbers means you can't really draw any conclusions. It only takes one mid-size jet with a family to cause a huge jump in the stats. Also, what was the total flight time of 2020 compared to 2021? Fatalities to flight time would be a better metric.
