Unconfirmed reports are the pilot was a retired airline Captain who flew this plane for the owners. -aircraft went down in the water, debris field found -ADS-B data showed erratic flight path shortly before the crash Juan Browne has a YouTube video up on this: https://youtu.be/eY6YD8evQZI |

YouTuber Dan Gryder has a video out on this accident and a couple more, including the Baron 58 that appeared to do a VMC roll onto I-85 in NC. Some interesting info on both accidents. The Baron Pilot actually landed single engine in October. The plane then sat until the accident day with no fuel being added. Both shops on the field wanted to overhaul the failed engine after that cylinder failed but the pilot didn't want to do that, even thou it was near the TBO. He even considered trucking the plane 50 miles to get it fixed. He aborted the first takeoff, got airborne on the 2nd one but not for long.
The PC-12 doesn't have much hard info but Dan is fairly certain the Commercial Pilot was letting his private pilot son fly from the left seat on a VFR flight with wx in the area. "Switch-logy" with the PIC in the right seat may have contributed to this accident. There's other stuff in the video so I'll just post the links at the correct timestamp: Baron 58: https://youtu.be/ljcWbBPokgs?t=412 PC-12: https://youtu.be/ljcWbBPokgs?t=718 |
I have no respect for how Dan conducts himself.

NTSB Prelim Out
Some interesting info. A number of pilot mistakes:
-penetrating the Restricted Airspace requiring altitude restrictions to be put on military aircraft -acknowledging a "direct to" clearance but not doing it until being prompted by ATC -instructed not to descend below 1900ft until the fix but they got down to 1700ft. NTSB Prelim Report (PDF) https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-repgen/a...ort/104634/pdf Ad for the "Lightweight Data Recorder" this PC-12NG had on it: https://www.l3harris.com/all-capabil...a-recorder-ldr The NTSB recovered this item so that should help a lot in figuring this out.
