USN Contractor Lear Crash

Off San Diego, near SCI. Sounds like a contract aggressor for fleet training.

Phoenix has had a few mishaps at that location, doing that mission.

The deceased have been identified, and the search ended.

Not an inherently safe mission, pretty sure I recall an incident where a warship locked up and shot down the contracted tow plane instead of the towed target.

They really bent an airplane under maneuver G-loading a few years ago. Pulled off an elevator, I think and bent the horizontal stab on a Lear 35 or 36. I believe they're doing a lot of ECM work, as well as targeting.
