FAA Testing New NOTAM System This Month
Aviation Dailyreported that FAA plans to test a new aeronautical notification system in July, aimed at eventually replacing the current antiquated NOTAM system, which is reverting to its original name, Notice to Airmen Management System (NMS). The new system will be cloud-hosted. It is being developed by CGI Federal, along with Google Public Sector, NG Aviation, and Mosaic ATM. FAA’s Thomas Draffen said NMS is intended to be turned on for real in Feb. 2026, with the old system turned off at that point.

Interestingly, there was a recent company comm (weekly update?) that said the company filters some nuisance NOTAM's. Oh? So they CAN filter?

That kind of stuff should be consolidated under a new, separate system: NOTLAW (Notices to Attorneys at Law).

Especially for ETOPS with multiple alternates etc
Them- “well did you read the NOTAM?” Me- “there were 37 pages of them.” Thankful at least for WSI and Jepp which allows me to look specifically at runway and/or procedural ones broken out from a lightbulb out on the centerline. |

I've been an ALPA rep at Air Charting Forums. That is exactly how the FAA sees the NOTAM system and pilots' responsibility.

Im well aware. Reminds me of studying for my CFI and I asked the FSDO how much of the FAR/AIM I needed to know. Their answer, “all of it.”
