A non-pilot friend was on that flight, describing a single loud "BOOM" at 500' followed by "a loss of altitude" (?) before climbing again, and a "hot" landing at LAX.

He said the crew were calm and professional, but he was still "scared" and thought "it was curtains."

Ship N465WN was flying again the following day.
