SW off end of runway in MDW!

The thing about MDW I don't like it the ILS 31C circle-to-land to the 22s. Give me the circle-to-land in EWR on 29 over that any day.

I can't wait to see the USA Today article on this:
"Southwest Airlines Safely Maneuvers Plane to a Stop at Midway"
Those guys are stuck so far up SWA's butt they have to part their hair to poop.
All kidding aside, I'm happy there were no injuries.

Don't think the taxi speed at WN is that much higher than everyone else these days, but it sure used to be. There's a reason the stereotype exists.
And there are still those who perpetuate it. I actually had a SWA guy in my jumpseat who gave me grief (at altitude) over taxiing too slow (15 knots). Actually said, and I quote, "there's no reason to taxi slow, it costs the airline money and there's less left over for the pilots!"
Mind you this is the same guy who talked about being one of the big proponents of age 65 at SWA...before we even left the gate. Shoulda left him there.

The thing that gets my attention is the passengers commenting that the plane bounced on landing. How hard or fast do you have to come down to counter the spoilers and bounce? Is that likely or are the passengers just confused?

I recall people saying similar about LGA years ago, with SNL skits joking that the Port Authority should spice things up by putting piranhas in the water.
Midway I think is fine and I'd rather it be open than having to use Gary, IN or the Jesse Jackson & Son fictitious Peotone public works project.

I like the NBC quote that ""heavy rain" forced a Southwest Airlines jet off the runway at Midway Airport..."
Do you suppose that would work during the hearing? Maybe a little Alfred E. Neuman impression and a, "What? The airplane was FORCED off the runway!" Another gem was that the airplane became 'stuck in the mud,' which to me implies that they tried to get 'er outta there, but jes had no luck!

MODERATORS... You people are ridiculous with all your thread moving! This is a thread about a major airline. Your like a bunch of politicians doing crap that doesn't need to be done to justify your title.
To show your not bias, why don't you move all the threads about Delta quarterly losses and AMR stockto the "money talk" section, the DOJ thread to the "law" section, the ATC jumpseaters to the "ATC" section and the Delta pilot assoc to the "union talk" section.
Your fan,

Or, perhaps, suggest that the runways be lengthened by about 1000'. That's really about all we need. You'd just need to demolish about a quarter square mile of South Chicago low-income housing to make it happen.
Chicago politicians would get right behind a bunch of rich old white guys calling for poor black folks housing to be bulldozed...right?
Ooh ooh ooh. I have a better idea. Close Midway and build a replacement airport out on Northerly Island!

The moving to hide WN Miscues is laughable. Perhaps they could just create a Southwest incidents/accidents/skirt measuring/ naked flying section.
