Unhappy Judgment

They say that it is hard to teach judgment.
If the facts (and prelim of the NTSB) are correct - there is no way to stop this type of mishap other than good judgment.
What a hard lesson to learn with such a high price to pay.

I dunno, seems like there were plenty of warning signs and someone should have turned this doofus in. We only shoot ourselves in the foot as the pilot community by not doing so.

What a mess.

This guy sounds like he objectively was not qualified though, and his instructor said he wasn't ready to even solo in that aircraft?
