Some airlines abroad allow phone use while airborne. And the FCC has paved the way in the US to allow for cellphone use by allocating certain frequencies. Its not a technological issue as much as its a social issue. Ultimately, the market will decide. If customers want it, and money can be made to offset costs, then cellphone use airborne will become more commonplace.

That's my OPINION and I'm sticking to it

But I'm with LowSlowT2... keep them switched off!!! Its bad enough when the plane touches down. Everyone goes for their cellphones immediately. Ugh.
