Just a couple of weeks ago, a student pilot was on guard asking for help because he was losing his electrical system and already lost the radio display (obviously he it was still transmitting/receiving). I kid you not, twice some jackass said "You're on Guard!". That's what it's for dumbass!

I helped the guy get in touch with the approach controller in the area, as we both ignored the clueless guard cop. Can you believe that?
Did this happen to be a Japanese sounding student pilot over FAT area?? I heard something very similar to this and while he was asking for help, guys kept blocking his transmissions saying "Your on guard!!". Its unbelievable how idiotic some of these guard nazis are.

Yes, that was it! I know, we were both surprised at the guard douche. I was the guy that started asking him how we could help.

Beat me to it. There might be a few guys flying around that wouldn't feel like helping out...

So they're gonna do what? Put people's lives further at risk to prove some petty point?

I hope the nurses/doctors/EMTs your wife/parent/kids rely upon in some future crisis aren't so wrapped up in their own little world when YOU need them.

Grow up.

Take a step back and realize that I wasn't talking about myself... but that anyone who works here will tell you that there are more than a few bitter old former jet captains around this company.

Perhaps you shouldn't use your 'jump-to-conclusions' mat quite so often. Chill out.

Jump to conclusions?

I don't see how your or TheTransporter's statements could be interpreted any other way.

Bitter or not, we are dealing with people's lives here.

GB, it really shows the type of intellect we're dealing with here. Blaming the crew and passengers for decisions made by the management of several different airlines? I'd expect better logic from a child.

For those guys to even suggest such a thing is sickening. Fortunately I know most of the folks at Horizon are much, much better than that.

Really? How so? I stated that "There might be a few guys that might not feel like helping out."

Please show me how that must be interpreted as "I wouldn't help out."

Come on, man... now you're just reaching. And honestly, as a professional, to insinuate that I'd intentionally try to leave someone in icing as they were having a problem is just insulting. I do hope you can see how I wasn't stating my beliefs, but only commenting on a statement that was made by someone else.

Again, I wasn't suggesting that it was a good idea, or that I would do it, or that I wish someone else would do it. I was simply commenting on the fact that there is a culture of resentment when it comes to some of the former QX flying, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone wasn't in a big hurry to make the Skywest crew's job easier. I would be extremely irritated if someone tried to pull that, as those are my customers as much as they're anyone else's. I came on board at QX significantly after the jet flying was gone, and have no bone to pick with SKW at all.

Perhaps a slightly less defensive position when it comes to reading posts would be helpful.

I am not defensive. I am disgusted.

I am sure Alaska Airlines, and especially their customers, would feel the same way reading this thread.

Disgusted that there's a possibility that there are some scumbags out there? Me too. That was my original point, to point out that fact.

Internet posting is an imperfect means of communication, and it seems I wasn't able to convey my statement as I meant it. I'm sorry we had this misunderstanding, but I do hope you can see that I wasn't attempting to advocate such behavior. Seriously.
