Live and learn?

Same guy, same type of airplane, under similar circumstances, almost exactly one year apart!
Reminds me of the California surfer dude who was attacked twice by the SAME Great White shark in the same bay and survived!
Is it BAD LUCK to have had such incidents or GOOD LUCK to have survived them?

Ivans said kept his private pilot's license after last year's crash, but it was restricted to student pilot privileges.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor in an email said Ivans "physically turned in his private pilot certificate to the Las Vegas Flight Standards Office. He has a temporary, student certificate.
"As a result of the 2012 accident, we required Mr. Ivans to be re-examined by an FAA inspector to prove he is proficient at operating a Piper Aerostar."
How last week's crash will factor in the FAA's judgment remains to be seen.

Doc Rumack: Can you fly this plane, and land it?
Norman Ivans: Surely you can't be serious.
Doc Rumack: I am serious... and don't call me Shirley.
