Sounds like it's just making law what is already company policy at most places. No non-work related use of electronics during flight, and no electronics use at all during sterile cockpit. All of which is a complete waist of time and money because it can't be effectively enforced. The only time anyone learns of unauthorized use of electronics in the flight deck is on investigation of an accident/incident and most if not all of the time, the electronics use played no part in causing the event.

How else do you contact the hotel to to send the van or Pre order the last call round during happy hour?
How many are old enough to remember when years ago the FSS briefer at the airport woul perform these monumental tasks?

Yet many airline pilots will still call their provider and say they work for an airline, for a 25% discount. I know many at UAX carriers would call and get 25% off Sprint for United discount rate.

Sooooo, does this mean I gotta ditch my Kindle and go back to paper books? Staring out the window is kinda tough on that 10 hour ANC-HKG leg.
Check out this article from USA TODAY:

But it will still be OK to have newspapers and books? How those are differnet I have no idea. But hey, the rules are the rules. We know we have to put our O2 masks on above FL250 and we now know not to have electronic devices in the cockpit......
