That's a damn good landing for a helicopter, considering.

As a rotorwing guy who's had my share of life changing experiences on helicopters I can speak with some authority on this. Largely, helicopter autorotations are very survivable and something you must practice to stay proficient in. Sadly, the ones that don't go right happen when you are outside of the parameters of the height velocity diagram, involve a loss of tail rotor authority, or catastrophic gearbox failure. When tail rotor authority is lost, autorotation must be immediately entered or your health could be in danger. And even when those bad auto's happen, some people would have walked/hobbled away if only they were wearing a helmet instead of headsets alone. Good job to the lady for putting it down like she did!

Maybe I'm opening a can of worms with this so my apologies in advance....

Why is it crammed down our throat this is a female? Replace every time they say female with the word male and it sounds egotistical and asinine. Why should it matter? She and her passenger survived a harrowing experience to fly another day and she didn't kill anyone on the ground. Who cares the gender of the pilot?

All that aside, great job to her. I just don't understand the tone of the article

Uhh... don't get yourself worked up, you haven't spent time in London I'd guess... The "Daily Mail" is a British tabloid with simple language aimed at a particular audience... well known for sensationalist junk slightly above our "National Enquirer" (is that still around?) or like "TMZ" now, and has historically been aimed a bit at women, too. So, they are probably using it a bit in a "celebratory" role, but there is no nuance and it comes across as stilted.

From wikipedia:

The Daily Mail was Britain's first daily newspaper aimed at the newly literate "lower-middle class market resulting from mass education, combining a low retail price with plenty of competitions, prizes and promotional gimmicks", and the first British paper to sell a million copies a day. It was, from the outset, a newspaper for women, being the first to provide features especially for them, and is the only British newspaper whose readership is more than 50 percent female, at 53 percent.

But returning to the topic, awesome job to the pilot. Did anybody think she looked a bit like Earhart?

Thankfully she doesn't fly like her!

From wikipedia:

Cardio, not worked up. A simple response and reference you quoted will suffice. Thanks though.
