West Coast Heat Wave

Any one flying in one of the heat stricken locations out west? PHX, PSP, SLC, Mexico, etc...? Any health or mechanical issues arise because of it? Curious to hear your stories.

Many pilots have experienced serious health issues by not taking density altitude and convective thunderstorms into proper consideration. Heat associated mechanical issues would typically be trying to get a mechanic to come out in the heat to fix your aircraft.

It was funny to pick up ice today (with it being 118) during our flight from HMO to PHX. It was -01c at 25,000. The only safety related issue was a superficial burn from our metal seatbelts.

Stay hydrated my friends. This heat can really be dangerous.
