It's a cultural thing to a degree, but it's mainly due to the fact that you have a bunch of very wealthy players (oil) in that world who have nothing better to do but agitate and enable hate and discontent. Of course they pull strings from the shadows, rarely participating directly in terrorism...UBL was a notable exception, but for every hands-on guy like him there are a hundred who prefer the comfort and safety of their air conditioned compounds. But they write a lot of checks.
There is a large and recently expanding network of madrassas over there which deal in hard-core islam, providing the base ingredient of "committed" young men.

Because you don't bother to know any better? Chechnyans (sp?), Basques, Irish, etc...It might also be because it's the most populous religion, just like how more populous areas have more crime.

We have ample domestic terrorism right here in the USA.
If your only source of information are sites such as what you linked, and CNN, then you might be forgiven for blaming the arab world for all our woes and for terrorism in general.

Great question and one that needs to be answered ASAP. I do believe that if the truth, and I mean the truth, was available to the population, most of them would shrug their shoulders and get right back to the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo.

US domestic terror is conducted by fringe lunatics with almost no popular support or finances...muslim-inspired terror is widely supported by the man on the arab street. The only thing they have going for them is that they're already here and can move about freely without raising many suspicions until it's too late.
FWIW, I don't consider Boston very domestic...they were trained and enabled by the usual overseas suspects.

It's amazing to me that with the volume of information readily available at our fingertips over the World Wide Web, for all intensive purposes, people seem more ignorant and intolerant than ever.

Because a majority of us choose to base our opinions off of emotionally-charged, knee-jerk, reactionary information purported from politically-charged , radically-biased news/media outlets. A freedom of speech that has become a freedom of self-entitlement to voice one's opinion for the sake of voicing an opinion with little regard to fact, accuracy, or brevity.

In times past people HAD to get their news from Walter Cronkite, or read something by Pulitzer. Something relatively balanced. Sure there were still some rags or tabloids, but larger news corporations were quite centrist. Now somebody can seek out whatever trash and read it to solely form "opinions," or spout out the same half-true (or not true) nonsense to no end.
I am now liberal hippie to the right wingers, and I am a conservative crock to the extreme left, but yet I haven't changed. Thoughtful discussion is quite rare (look at some of the posters here, or any web forum).
