UPS Accident - BHM
#91
My wife lost her best friend 2 weeks ago Monday in a car wreck.
Needless to say, this hit us completely out-of-the-blue with absolutely no warning whatsoever. Like the loss of UPS Flt 1354 this AM, it was a very stark reminder that we can lose anyone in the blink of an eye. Done. Gone.
We've been to grief counseling since her death and were given a simple yet what we feel is a profoundly influential thought. Here it is...
If you knew you were going to lose someone you like, appreciate, or love at midnight tonight or the end of this week...
...how would you change the way you speak to them and/or treat them? How often would you call just to say hi, or simply let them know you are thinking of (and how you feel about) them? What would change in terms of what you see as important vs. unimportant issues challenging your relationship, and what would you do to make your relationship with them better and more in keeping with the kind of relationship you want to enjoy with them?
What would you do (or not do) today and in the time remaining to ensure you had no regrets where that person is concerned?
Fellow pilots, this one simple idea has had a profound impact upon our marriage and friendships in the very short time since we lost our friend. It is my hope anyone who reads this will, going forward, benefit from it the same as we have.
This post is respectfully dedicated to the dear friend we lost and to the crew of UPS Flt 1354, as well as their family and friends.
Godspeed and RIP

We might work for different companies but I feel we are all on the same team. Any plane crash, especially a cargo plane crash, is VERY sobering news to say the least. My heart breaks today and I send my sincerest prayers and respect to the pilots and families that lost a son or a daughter, a mother or a father, a sister or a brother.
Godspeed,
PT

Just landed overseas. News not reporting over here. Thanks to those of you supplying information. Prayers to all family, friends, and colleagues of the crew. Very sad and terribly unfortunate event. My hope is that the media doesn't butcher the information the way they always tend to do.
