You may want to check your facts on your claim.

Sorry, my mistake. I mean they can not fly without knowing the rules ICAO, and must respect them

If you have an FAA license in your pocket, then you have been flying with a license from a State that is a subscriber to ICAO.

Don AdreLuiz, this terrible tragedy wasn't the result of just one mistake nor wasn't the negligence of just one individual, this terrible tragedy was the result of a chain of events (like all aviation accidents are) and if only one of them wouldn't have happened the way they happened, this terrible crash would have been avoided, I think that the Brazilian investigator did a very good and impartial job and he reached a conclusion that there was no criminal intent on behalf of these pilots and he found the root cause of this terrible tragedy. There is no way that you can point the finger at just one individual and lay blame because there were many factors (including A/C design) that played a part.

Default With all the respect

Ok. First I want to apologize to revive this topic after so long. But I think we have some unfair facts that I have to tell you. Second, I'm not American, so my English is far from perfect, I'll try my best to Communicate. (More Americans should try to learn another language as well, is really useful)

My name is Felipe Lacerda, and I am a Fireman here in Brazil. I Have a Private Pilot Licence as a Hobby. I really read ALL the threads, with all the respect and all my attention, so expect, in a sign of good faith from you, the same.

I think is really unfair what SOME Brazilians says about those two pilots, calling them like murderers and things like that. Ok, they did not have the intention to turn off any the TCAS system, and we cant prove that the system was misfunctioning or not, of course. They were really skilled at landing the Legacy 600, yes. The ATC system on Brasil that time has problems, yes, but we judged and put on prison the 2 men that were on their shift. We had fixed all the holes in our system too.

But I want to ask one thing to you guys, have you ever heard the cockpit conversation between Jan and Joe? Do you think they knew how to operate properly 100% of the aircraft? Do you think is safe to fly like that? Reading the manual meanwhile they were flying, without any ground school? When they lost contact shouldn't they change their flight level because they have changed from west to east direction? Sometimes in the recording, they don't know where "Manaus VOR" is, but it was in their Flight Plan, to pass over or fly to Manaus. So before a flight shouldn't any crew review EVERY SINGLE STEP of the journey? I mean, studying it really carefully, especially when you are flying in a place that you aren't used to?

When you call Brazil like a "Banana Republic" you are acting like the Brazilians that calls those two pilots as murderers. And it isn't nice of you and us. If the pilots have the fault, surely not. But you guys think that they were PERFECTLY doing their jobs?

American Friends, we NEVER HAD A MID AIR COLLISION in our history, even with those ATC problems, and we have one the busiest aircraft traffic in the world in Sao Paulo (Bigger then NY general aircraft traffic) for example, and we never had anything like that...

I'm not here to blame anyone! And I wish all the best for those pilots, really, but take care when you are calling someone's country as a Banna republic, especially when this country host HUNDREDS of Americans daily, with all the care and respect.

I Wish you guys and your families all the health and lucky in the world.
