Local TV news using UAVs
I had no idea they were doing this. Does not sound very safe.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TV Journalists Weighing Pluses, Risks Of UAV Use. The AP (2/11) reported on the alleged use of a UAV by a Connecticut local television station for broadcasting purposes. The UAV had been dispatched to a nearby car crash scene, and police officials indicate that they have had an increasing frequency of UAV sightings at their investigations. The article referred to “12 warning letters” that the FAA has sent to broadcast stations and other UAV operators, and while the FAA has been given a 2015 deadline for comprehensive UAV rules, the article noted that “it’s clear the agency won’t meet that deadline.” The article went on to suggest that TV station UAV use is particularly risky since their UAVs are more likely to be spotted at public, conspicuous occasions. |
I can see UAV drivers following Wild Weasel doctrine for dealing with the homemade, etc, SAM sites. :D |
SAMs might be pushing it but I'm pretty sure I could home-build a jammer capable of targeting the freqs used by most commercially available model airplane UAVs.
