Medical Exams

When I started my PPL training, I got my medical at a nearby facility and I have to say, maybe there should be some checks/balances associated with these.

Reason I say is, I am red-green colorblind. I never applied for AF officer program to attempt flying due to getting diagnosed with that earlier on during middle-school/high school.

Anyways, I knew for sure I would have a night-time restriction unless I passed a light gun test at my airport. However, when I went for my medical at an approved location, I ended up with a class 1 medical no restrictions. They showed me the book and I failed every single page (except maybe one) of the ishihara test. None the less, she passed me off to the next station and didn't say a word.

Isn't that a bit dangerous??? I ended up telling the flight-school manager and they had me do a light gun test which I did fine on. But still, it made me doubt the thoroughness of these tests.

just my experience.
