"CNN personality Richard Quest was busted in Central Park early yesterday with some drugs in his pocket, a rope around his neck that was tied to his genitals, and a sex toy in his boot, law-enforcement sources said."

I saw that too. Quest is CNN's international business reporter. They asked him what his "thoughts" were on those objects (who better to ask), and he waved a paper while literally shouting it's EXACTLY along the route of flight. They then show a lat/long that's 60-100 miles off, a 90 degree right turn after their last radar position. Now, I'm no business reporter, but in my feeble controller opinion I'd say 60-100 miles isn't quite "exactly."
No kidding... far be it from the 24 hour news networks to report anything accurately. They trip all over themselves to be the "first" to report something and in the process get literally everything wrong.

Is vietnam control non-radar in that area?

I knew that boy had some serious problems, but he does fit right in with the staff there.

Quest was calling it an "elt" the other day. Not E-L-T. He said "elt" over and over.... 32 years flying, never heard that.

Richard Quest is an idiot. That guy doesn't know dick about flying it would seem. The only piece of his which I think was OK is that he had a short piece where he went flying with this crew only a few days before. I did enjoy watching that if only because it documented them doing what they enjoyed only days earlier than 370.

I've yet to use the word "tarmac" in an official manner in aviation, yet on the news, over and over and over again....

Just imagine what "primary" and "secondary" radar does to them when it's explained that secondary is used primarily and then translate it from Malaysian.
