Default Plane versus skydiver

Both survive. Pilot is 87 years old.

Plane catches skydiver's parachute; both crash, but all survive - latimes.com

Every time I see the cars with the WW2 veteran plates on them, I give them a wide berth.

I can't tell if you are joking. I've actually never flown out of an airport with a drop zone, but I assume that the parachutes (landing) has right of way?

I looked over FAR 105 and it is not really obvious.

My grandmother is 89, is considered to be in excellent health, and is lucky to make it to the bathroom in time.

I wondered the same thing as well and wonder if the skydiver landing on the actual runway vs nearby DZ makes any difference. Looking at google maps of the airfield, it doesn't look like there is room for seperate a DZ and runway. If I'm a skydiver or GA pilot at that airport, I want no part of either.

I did a tandem jump earlier in the year, and flew into the airport. I was sure to monitor ATC and CTAF coming and going.

I don't think it's the norm for the divers to land on the runway, if the geography permits. There was a "buy the beer" board for jumpers who did that.
