Default Teen dies in around the world attempt

Trying to be the "youngest PIC to travel around the world in less than 30 days in a single engine"

That's really sad. At least they died for something glorious. I guess there's a reason not many people hold that world record after all.

His father, who was flying with him is a regular poster on a Beechcraft forum I'm on.

He is still missing last I heard. They found Haris' body at the start of the search.

Sucks. They were doing something that few can, and even fewer that could would even attempt.

Sounds familiar to that girl and her idiot dad that tried doing something similar back in the 90's. Didn't they auger a cardinal in Colorado?

Story about that one here. Yes, a cardinal:
The Jessica Dubroff Accident - AVweb Features Article

This was the first incident that generated controversy about the poor decision making associated with record attempts.

A tragic end to a quest for 15 minutes of fame.

That's rather harsh. Following your dream usually has nothing to do with fame. My condolences to their loved ones.

Maybe you should consider a different line of work?

Wow, that is extremely sad.

This is basically a rehash of our concerns in that other thread.

At least "Amelia Earhart" made it. In a glass cockpit. At age 31. With another pilot.

"We had dual GPS and synthetic vision, and that's why we were able to complete the flight!" (Yes, she says this.)
