Boeing 787 Dreamliner Fire: Investigators Urge Battery Safety Review - NBC News

It is not just the 787 lithium-ion battery design that needs review. I have been interested in the problem since the 787 and believe the problem exists in nicad systems, such as on MH370 and other 777s. And other aircraft. In fact the whole electrical design needs review. In the live NTSB webcast, the Japanese designer said the electrical noise was so bad they couldn't measure battery voltages away from the battery. That indicates a terrible grounding problem!

I find it odd that the airplane was even certified with at least TWICE the weight of lithium ion batteries than you are even allowed to carry on passenger airliners. Huh?

The 350 does not have Lithium batteries, correct?

@badflaps - If you are referring to Airbus A350 the answer is no. But Airbus planes do loose power while in the air.

Airbus abandoned Li batteries after observing the 787 debacle.
