Default 'Per flight' renter's insurance

I rent sometimes to fly around but it's not very much, only a few times per year since I fly for work. Is there any renter's insurance I could get on a per flight basis or only a yearly option?

I doubt it. Too many variables and too much paperwork to make it worthwhile from a business perspective.

I'm in the same boat. I have paid $250 for a year of coverage, the same price, or close, to what a 50 hour PPL would pay. Only flying occasionally when not doing it for a living. So after the coverage expires, I don't rent and don't pay for coverage I don't need. So who wins in this case?? My local FBO doesn't get rentals from me, even though it would be a small number of hours a year. Now they are getting nothing. The insurance industry gets nothing (which in my opinion is the only good thing to come out of it ! )
How many others like me, not renting 5 - 10 hours a year? Who knows, but add another nail to the coffin of GA because of stupidity and laziness of an industry that is indifferent or ignorant of what it is loosing.

Thirty years ago, FBOs used to pay for renters insurance. Since then it has been a free for all in the insurance market. I would like to return to the model where the FBO handles the insurance except for a $1,000-$5-000 deductible. The current model almost guarantees that the pilot will allege improper maintenance, and the FBO will allege pilot error. The FBO needs to be careful about the pilot checkout.
