This is actually quite true. I've heard from a few check airmen that AA especially looks at how much single engine taxi time we have per flight, and at least as of a year and a half ago, we lag far behind Envoy and Republic's 175 single engine taxi times. Combine that with the fact that even though the FOM says that you "should" not go above 40% N1 while taxiing, it actually means that you can
(don't worry, I got it in writing from some chief pilots back in the day, and I'm sure you can do it too if there's a worried captain). Once I pieced that together, I single engine taxiied every time I was at Compass, since I bid avoid the snow in the winter.
