777 Type Cost?

Actually a lot of people are buying their own for jobs like Korean, Air India, and Vietnam. Then there are people like me who have the rating on a foreign license who would love to get it on the FAA certificate, but we must go through an "approved course" in order to take the type ride. That even though I have 4000 PIC on type and instruct on it!!!

There's not much that makes me more frustrated than responding accidentally to a 4 yr old post. Seriously, who has the time to drag this stuff up? I feel like I need to go on another rant to address the obvious lack of necessity to bring up threads from years ago for no apparent reason, but my rant below will do for now.

If you were buying a new CD player, would you go to an electronics forum and ask how much one would cost, or would you call a place that sells CD players and ask them.

Or lets just say that you wanted to know what an airline pays for a type because you're writing a research paper. Would you site "BeerNplanes" at APC said....$237,001 for a 777 type rating.

I am all for pilots helping pilots, but not at the cost of completely surrendering our ability to also be self sufficient.

So, 2 tips:

1) Feel free to do a search, not only on APC, but at a search engine like Google, yahoo, or (if you're feeling extra motivated) Bing.com. Most likely you will get your information more quickly and it will be incredibly more accurate.

2) You will get the most out of your APC experience if you use it for what it is meant for. We are GREAT at giving inside information on how things really work in the airline industry and even better at giving opinions (a couple opinions are even based in fact). APC cannot be relied upon for specific facts, unless backed up with non-APC sources.

You missed my sarcasm Unfortunately I'm aware that people are buying their own ratings/jobs and as such degrading the working conditions of all.

Now if only the FAA would not be so stupid and start transferring type ratings, life would be easier. Considering most of the other countries have much higher training standards than the FAA anyways.

Or you could even pick up that ancient piece of technology called the telephone and call the companies that offer 777 training to ask them
