What difference does that make? Don't FOs and CAs at the same company at the same company wear pants?

Unless you're driving an hour away to hang out at Wal-Mart, why would you wear you pants and bring your luggage? I also live 30-45mins from the airport and I will often sit reserve on the beach or on the boat in the summer. Just check that phone often when getting out of the water!

I am sure many will echo this, but reserve in base vs. commute to reserve are totally different jobs. Even a 30min flight to a place like EWR or LGA can turn into a nightmare with weather, other jumpseaters, ATC flow, etc. Commuter clauses. Get em, learn em, love em.

What is the percentage of reserve pay to block time? Do you even get paid for sitting reserve? Is it comparable to the 'barista' making coffee in the terminal?

If your commute is on most 50 seaters (all CRJ200s and E145s other than XRs), you might as well forget about going to work/home on days that require alternates. It's like trying to get within w&B envelope in a Seminole with 4 fat people

Skywest doesn't have a commuter clause nor do they have a contract to have a 'clause' in. If you miss your commute it's unpaid. They do however let you pick your trip back up without a lot of fuss if you can get to domicile later. I've been a commuter for 3 years and never had an issue but it's not as nice as having a commuter clause would be.

^This. There are three flights a day between my place of residence and my domicile (PHX). One of those flights in on Mesa (CRJ 900) which is fine but the other two are on SKW and their beloved 200s. I've been knocked off the jumpseat on the 200 a couple of times due to weight restrictions...it sucks.

98% of the time I do get a seat in the back though.

Depends on your work rules and why you commute,
My carrier is now pay protecting our commute and provides a crash pad type room at the airport... Why not commute from paradise now? I came to the conclusion that I don't want to live in the depressed expensive cities that we have bases in but rather under the sun on a beach... Very little cost difference, all I pay is the extra parking, so I found it was a good deal. This is why you must choose you carrier and contract wisely.

Who's crying here? My commute is a breeze! But it is something to take into consideration for the OP. You just can't count on the jumpseat in the 200 to get you home on a packed route. And that's a fact Jack.
