A local guy flying freight on a 99 is going to class soon on the 175. He has zero prior 121 experience and was a CFI before the freight gig. This guys reputation is very poor (mostly character issues) and was turned down multiple times for 121 jobs. No one was surprised based on his historical ethics issues. Everyone's jaw dropped when they heard he was offered a job with Mesa but then understood how he did based on Mesa's current interview process.
Mesa may be filling classes with qualified pilots, but equally if not more important, are these quality people? I am certain some are. But no doubt some are not.
This guy IS the bottom of the barrel and the poster child of the possibility that the impending pilot shortage may just well be here. Which I hope finally provides a fair wage.
Let us know if he manages to stay there. Getting picked up well yeah ok. But will he make it through probation without getting shown the door. Keep us posted.Originally Posted by ATOP40
