Quote: What are the chances that this book might have a sequel called :

The RJ Years Part 2 seats between 70-90

Then:

The RJ Years Part 3 seats between 90-100

I think there's a good chance that the majority of the domestic flights will be Embraer 170's, 190's and CRJ 700's, 900's and eventually CRJ 1000's.

Thoughts? Purely speculation...
Had they wrote the book just after 9/11, I guess they could have multiple volumes. However, I think we've gleaned enough info about the escalations of RJ's both in quantity and size to get them in one volume.

Quote: Thanks Andy,There are some in every pilot group that "don't need the job" for various reasons..rich Uncle, side business, bow-legged show goat, etc. FF
FF:

Knowing you personally, I have to say I'm not surprised that you would come up with a "Bow-legged show goat"... You owe me a beer for that one because I just spit mine out laughing so hard.

Another FliFast famous line: "Does anyone here speak English?" (In Baku)

Sorry about the thread hijack... Please continue.

I can't remember Gordon Bethune's EXACT words, something along the lines of "make a slice of pizza (or cheeseburger) bad enough and eventually nobody will buy it" Or something like that.

Well, that point has yet to happen to the airlines. Look at WalMart. A lot of the stores are dirty, service can be awful, they don't exactly have a stellar labor relations record, they come under increasing criticism for their operating practices, etc.

People STILL flock there to spend their money.

Little bit of thread drift, but as much as people like to complain about how the airlines are doing on the customer service level, they are getting EXACTLY what they have wanted.
"If you are being rewarded for finding ways to make pizza cheaper, eventually you'll take the cheese off. You'll make it so cheap that people won't eat it." - Gordon Bethune

Thanks, I knew somebody would have the exact verbage.

Both guys answered their phones about the same time and the first words out of there mouths were "Oh my god!....are you serious?!?!?"

Seconds words??? "Well....wouldnt mind seeing 74's and 777's on property"

Which Wednesday or Thursday was this suppose to be, because it wasn't the Wednesday or Thursday that followed your posting???

Quote: God I hope not. Y'all at mainline don't you dare give up any more on scope. Next aircraft I fly with 90+ seats had damn well better be on a mainline seniority list.

Well said, you are one of the few people at the regional level that gets it, instead of pushing for E-190s and CRJ900s. The bigger airplanes you fly at the regional level, the longer you'll stay there. We need to get more flying back at the mainlines - I think we'll see that trend here in the near future.

And the line of regional pilot wannabes goes out the door around the block.

Because it's the step before a major. Most pilots I fly with actually do understand that bigger so-called "RJs" are a bad idea. But don't blame the RJ pilots. They are not the ones who gave up the scope 10 or 15 years ago.

Good point. Lumping regional pilots into one category like the statement you quoted is VERY ignorant.

Most, if not all of us cringed during the 70 seat giveaway starting in 2002. Even at the "regionals" where it carried a healthy pay increase to fly it, we DIDN'T want it. It was screwing up our careers JUST as much. Mainline pilots can cry all they want about who really messed this whole thing up.

Besides, it wasn't too long ago there there was a "line out the door and around the block" that contained BOTH civilian AND military pilots that were willing to go to work at a legacy for 30/hr.

I hope you are right, but personally don't think that the mainline guys have the negotiating capital, or are willing to make the sacrifice necessary for that to happen. The "regional" pilots CAN'T do this as by (Legacy Mgt) design, we have NO negotiating capital. Please understand, I really wish it to happen, but it is more than the camel's nose that is under the tent. Owning large animals myself, I know that it is much easier to get them to go forward than backward.
