These bonuses will likely be ending sometime soon:

Mesa Airlines Pilots Sue Company over Railway Labor Act Violations

Pilots: Don't come to Mesa. The recruiters will lie to you, and the company doesn't care about you. A reckoning is coming, this will cost the company dearly.

They dident win this. Rjet sued for the same thing and they also lost the lawsuit.

There are many reasons people chose to go to Mesa. I suggest just one thing, once you have a couple of months of flying move to another regional or elsewhere the future has in store for you. The longer you stay, the harder it will be to leave. There are much better places to invest your time and energy.

Grammar aside, you'll never get the whole bonus to begin with. It's given incrementally over several years, and only with a number of unlikely conditions met. You will never see the full bonus. I don't know if you get to keep any of it if you leave right away, and you will also have a several thousand dollar training note to pay back.

Additionally, our union is suing the company over giving out these new hire bonuses without compensating the rest of the pilot group. New hires accepting them are not well revered by the other pilots. Food for thought.

If you're planning on leaving after two months, why even come here? Actually, why come here regardless?

Not sure if you have read about the bonus but the new hires get them after IOE. And my buddy who just finished traning said he didnt sign a training contract.

I've heard the union lost that case in court as well. But have not confirmed that yet. And who looks down on new-hires? I've never seen that in our pilot group. And hope that never happens.

If we are going to discuss the company lets at least use facts to make a good argument.

I'm reading the link from Mesa 3.0 and you're right that they've changed the bonus. It's bigger and better now, and therefore more illegal. As far as the lawsuit, maybe WisJudge could weigh in but have we even been in a courtroom yet? Surely the union would mention something about having lost this critical lawsuit in one of their emails.

As far as new hires go, listen to crew room conversation or read some posts here. Talk to sim instructors. Listen to the Captains phoning in on company calls complaining that they're still doing IOE. There's a diplomatic balance that needs to be struck in a pro-communication safety-sensitive CRM environment, but it's hard not to point out the hypocrisy of a relative new guy who complains he only got a free iPad.

DJ, No idea. Have not followed the challenge to Mesa regarding the bonus issue. I think the only people who would know the status are the ALPA folks. Check with your union rep(s). I'm sure AH is on this for you all...

Better bonuses for new hires, for sure. Takes the sting out the first year. And if their are no training contracts even better. Still no benefits. I feel for all you first and second years FO's being paid well below the new hires.

Just talked to two recent LAMA's, company is going after both of them for the training note, withholding pay checks. I did not get that treatment with my departure, at least not yet. Looking forward to the game if they do

Thought the first delivery was to be in May for the new EJets.
Any news?

I wish you all well on your continued struggle.

Buyer beware
My sim partner quit shortly after his referral finished IOE and Mesa refused to pay the 5 grand
The point is: Do not trust Mesa Airlines to do what they say they will do. They will only do something if it makes money for management.
The recent letter proves they don't care about employees whatsoever. "Please fly every available day so we don't have to pay a penny extra to those who deserve it and then leave before you start to cost us more than we could pay a new guy."
Please read between the lines on the letter because it speaks volumes.
