If I’m not already in that number, I just put my two weeks in yesterday.

With all the DCA flying we're getting in May and June, are we losing any PHL/CLT flying to keep our overall flying relatively stable, or is the DCA flying gonna completely wreck staffing?

PBS is just a tool that management can use to get rid of soft money that is in your contract. You negotiated those items. You gave something up for those and PBS will take them away without giving you back what you initially gave up.
PBS is a win win for the company not for the pilots.
Careful what you seek.

PBS won’t change the 11 day off, 16 hr trip, 75 credit hours a month flying that PDT does.

PBS won’t get pilots paid correctly or on time.

PBS isn’t going to make it any quicker to get folks onto the line.

Upto 6 months for Captain upgrade.

9-12 months for New hires to get through OE.

Even with PBS, PDT will still be behind everyone except Mesa and Commutair in pay and QOL.

For the sake of argument, 13 flows a month will bring a true 5 year flow for new hires that the company advertises. If the company brings that to the table then they can have PBS but an increase to 8 a month isn’t going to make it worth it without a revamp to the work rules/ scheduling sections (12 days off minimum, 3 days off between trips, true min day above 4 hours, duty/ trip rigs etc.).

Yeah, not necessarily. Don’t be so quick to judge.

Aside from that, this place is a train wreck.

Agreed as far as the need for true min day and duty/trip rigs. We ABSOLUTELY need them.

Are there any upsides to PBS like more efficient schedules? Will it give individual pilots more control with trip trading? How exactly does it get rid of soft money? What’s your experience with PBS? Are there any easy/realistic ways to guard against the cons while taking advantage of the pros? Thanks.

The way PDTs contract is written PBS will schedule you to FAR 117 limits for 75hrs a month credit and min days off.

A total revamp of the scheduling section and the addition of trip/duty rigs, true min day pay, hard minimum days off between trips and greater minimum days off a month, would be required to make PBS work at PDT the way schedulung works at places like AWAC and XJT.

Not saying this is the gold standard, and I absolutely hate to peddle rumors that I’m not sure about, but was recently told that the framework for PBS that PDT is trying to use came directly from TSA. NavBlue, same soft pay, etc. Time will tell.

If anyone that isn’t flowing in less then 1.5 years doesn’t have their app in at frontier your crazy. Upgrade is at 2 year and 10 months. Year 3 captain pay is well over 200/hr. Philly will be junior for a while and likely an RDU base next.

IF the deliveries pan out as scheduled anyone hired this year will be sitting really pretty.
