Those of you that fly/train around Atlanta, what's the cheapest multi rental you've found? I've checked several places and the cheapest I've found so far is about $280 an hour or so for a Dutchess at PDK. It was cheaper but he went up over the phone on me saying the site hasn't been updated in awhile.

Thats the cheapest I know of. Most twins are $300-$400hr in ATL area. I'm a Georgia native and it honestly ticks me off at the prices schools are charging for any airplane! Most decent steam gauge singles are close to $225/hr with an instructor. Almost all the places around also make you deposit $1500-$3000 to get that price. Unfortunately its cheaper to go to other states for training.

If someone had a decent Apache going for $200/hr in 10hr blocks they'd literally put 30-40 hrs a week on it no sweat in ATL!

If you want multi time take a week off and get a 50 hr pack in Texas or Florida. Fly day, night XC and approaches.

I am bout to start my multi in an OLD Apache with I'm pretty sure is the original panel in it. $250 an hour, 45 an hour for the instructor. Not to bad of a deal I think.

You're paying for a death trap and unless (s)he's self employed a good MEI should be costing you more.

If this is the plane I think it is, the MEI is also the owner.
Old Apache is not necessarily a death trap. Traverse Air operates them and I've never heard anyone call them death traps.

They are if the one and only vacuum pump and the only hydraulic pump are on the left ( critical ) engine.
Anything that old and atrocious shouldn't be used for training anymore.
Training costs money and you pay either at the beginning or somewhere down the line.
