A serious incident of a Boeing 747-8F of Polar Air Cargo was revealed on 9th August, 2017. In the night of 15th July, 2017, just 19 minutes before the curfew, flight PAC/PO213 to Shanghai Pudong International Airport was taking off from runway 16L (2500 m/8202 ft long) at Tokyo/Narita.
The freighter became airborne just 85 m/279 ft from the departure end of the runway. However, the altitude should have been more than 10.7 m/35 ft at 326 m/1070 ft (15% length margin) from the departure end. No personal injuries were reported, and there were no further trouble for the rest of the flight.
A fence near the runway 16L departure end was damaged by the engine exhaust. A resident under the departure course reported household effects were blown away by the plane.
Polar Air Cargo explained that this occurrence was due to an erroneous thrust setting at the takeoff. JTSB launched an investigation as a serious incident similarly to overrun accidents.

Sounds like a normal day for a loaded 727 off of 25R in Vegas in high summer , we used to shout "Fore !!! " before charging out over the golf course , setting off every car alarm for miles, but the numbers said we were fine : )

I call bull on this one. There is not even 280 feet between the end of the runway and that farmer's house that is in the middle of the airport. I'm thinking this is an eroneous avherald report. Any other sources?

Was 16R closed? Why would a cargo bird taxi all the way over there to takeoff? Do they normally use the left for departures?

I'm pretty sure 747-800 is prohibited from use of that runway....Used to be, anyway.

It is a slot issue.

Don't waste your time, Bockrain is nothing but a troll.
And the 747-8 (not -800) can use either runway.
It's a slot issue.
And they regularly takeoff right at curfew.

Using TO2 as opposed to TO1 is, however, something can happen and will definitely degrade performance. Don't ask me how I know.

Or any Caribbean airport in a 727 "at gross weight"

"Did you see the look on their faces?!"

16L/34R is one of the most poorly designed runways I've ever seen. Tokyo is one of Asia's largest hubs yet they only have one runway > 9000 feet?

NRT is still technically unfinished (it is supposed to have 5 runways), and it is the reason that KIX and NGO were built on reclaimed land. The construction of NRT was extremely controversial, and there are still private homes on the airport whose owners refuse to sell.
