Ok OP's at 400 hrs. So he has 1100hrs to build. Cheapest 152 I know is $90.

So with some quick math that's $99,000. Let's say you're so lovely that you split that entire time with someone. So that's still 49.5k.

Well of course then there's an option of buying out a plane. A buddy just bought a 152 for 19K. He's an AP so all inspections except for the Annual are covered. His annual upkeep for the hangar/tiedown is gonna be 5k. Annual inspection 3k. So that's a total of 26k initial investment for the first year without including the price of fuel. With the fuel I'm willing to bet that kind of flight time would run you about 40k+

Not unfeasible, but OP needs to have a damn good job to make that happen. If he manages to re-sell the 152 after he might only spend 20-30k.

But if OP goes to work for a 135, which he'll be able to around 600hrs. The quality of his flight time will be much better than 1500hrs of jerk off time in a 152.

For a mid40’s married man with a 7-yr-old, the QOL for a first time flying gig has been pretty good.

I applied with them a couple of months ago at 475tt haven’t heard anything, I’m now at 575tt and thinking about sending in an updated application.

You would have to be crazy to build to 1500 hours haha. I meant only like to 500 or so for 135.

I believe there is a six month commitment, but given how they handle training, it is not unreasonable IMHO... I don’t remember the details, but there was nothing they bothered me when I reviewed it.

I saw a listing on bizjetjobs a few weeks back, maybe 2-3 weeks ago, maybe a little more. Something about a Cirrus pilot, like actually at the factory. I think it was everything from demonstrations to deliveries, but my memory is fuzzy. I don't remember the mins but I do remember they wanted Cirrus time.
