Ok OP's at 400 hrs. So he has 1100hrs to build. Cheapest 152 I know is $90.
So with some quick math that's $99,000. Let's say you're so lovely that you split that entire time with someone. So that's still 49.5k.
Well of course then there's an option of buying out a plane. A buddy just bought a 152 for 19K. He's an AP so all inspections except for the Annual are covered. His annual upkeep for the hangar/tiedown is gonna be 5k. Annual inspection 3k. So that's a total of 26k initial investment for the first year without including the price of fuel. With the fuel I'm willing to bet that kind of flight time would run you about 40k+
Not unfeasible, but OP needs to have a damn good job to make that happen. If he manages to re-sell the 152 after he might only spend 20-30k.
But if OP goes to work for a 135, which he'll be able to around 600hrs. The quality of his flight time will be much better than 1500hrs of jerk off time in a 152.
