Everything was very relaxed. There were 16 in my class. When we got there we immediately started filling out Pria paperwork for our previous employers. Then half the class was taken to start compass testing. We sat chatting while they checked log books 1 or 2 at a time then took us down for the panel interview. My interview was very quick. It was with the Cheif pilot, assistant Cheif pilot, head of HR and training instructor. I was asked,
1. Why Kalitta
2. Are you ok with the schedule
3. Any training failures/ skeletons in closet
4. Have I ever been through an AQP program.
I did hear some of the other guys got some technical questions but nothing crazy. Then we went back to sitting around chatting until lunch. After lunch they started drug testing. Then it was time for the rest of us to compass test.
1. Joystick, pedals, keyboard - keep in the flight director, coordinated and on speed. This was pretty easy as long as you can scan and it gives you practice time.
2. Enter changes to heading, alt, speed while keeping a scan for “master warning lights.” Have to cancel the light as fast as you can. Again, pretty easy.
3. Heading, altitude, speed and frequency will pop up. (Max of 3). Then after a few seconds they go away and you have to type them in the box below. I ended up writing them on the scratch pad then typing them in.
4. Math test. Very simple math for the most part. I think it was 20 minutes for 40 questions.
5. Commercial/atp type questions. These actually sucked. I heard a lot of guys complaining about these because if you have any true flight experience a lot of the answers given could be argued.
6. Personality test. Stupid... ask you to pick between two sentences 240 times so they can apparently see into your soul. All it did was give me a headache.
7. Verbal reasoning. Gave you a paragraph to read. Then a sentence below that had a statement about the paragraph. Then you said if the statement was true, false, or the information wasn’t given in the paragraph.
When we came out of that everyone was gone. Ghost town status. We eventually found one of the HR guys who said they were done with us so we could leave. Got a call on my drive home.
Overall very relaxed and everyone was nice. Would have really liked to have had a presentation about the company and an official question and answer session. I know a lot of us left with questions unanswered that we either had to email HR about or ask here on the forums. Not truly sure what to expect for training but i’ll try and provide that information as I go through.
