Leaving the Sandbox for China

Any former EY EK 777 guys made the move to China? Ive been looking for a while at various China 777 Captain jobs that pay well and allow commuting from some point in the USA. There are several agencies and several companies offering what looks on paper to be a great deal. Any input is appreciated.

I looked into this quite a bit and narrowed it down to the pros/cons between Korean with its rock solid commuting setup and very stable rosters. They are also exploring a form of reverse-scheduling with as few as two pilots in base. The downside is that their pay package is lagging and well overdue for a review.

China Southern or Hainan offer the big dollar contracts, but despite their growing demands I am hesitant to commit to either as a "career" move. With questionable medical licensing issues, and a punitive pilot culture I saw it as a matter of working 3-5 years, saving a lot of money, and moving on.

I have known people who were successful at both, and others who had negative experiences.

Did Interview with EK, and I to be honest, I did not like the Sandbox at all, I rather be here in CHINA, Just went for the free trip and free hotel, including breakfast.

at least I can commute back to the states. Get in with any CHINA carrier and leave. 5 years its all you need to fill your bank with cash!

good luck!
