RIP Capt. Tim Calvert

Dear pilots of SkyWest,

I'm sorry to announce this but one of your colleagues has left this world too soon. Capt. Tim Calvert died yesterday from ALS, or Lou Gherig's Disease. He was only 52.

I knew him casually and only knew of him through his former life as a musician. He co-authored one of my favorite albums. I was always impressed that at 35 he changed careers and put himself through flight school, something that's hard enough to do in your 20s. He told me of flying prop planes with no instruments in the Seattle area and the scary flights he had.

Here's an obit for him, mostly around his musical career.

Many memorable times on the Brasilia with Tim. So sad, I didn't even know.

Really bummed to hear the news. Tim was hands down one of my favorite captains at OO and while working in a different department persuaded me to go to flight school. Tail winds bud!
