I've been told you get a w2 type form of some sorts that shows how much you paid back....which reduces your taxes for the year you paid it back, not the year Envoy paid it to you.

Find an accountant, the gross repayment will be reported as a loss on your return, meaning you will receive as a refund only a portion of the taxes you repaid Envoy, but not all of them. There is no way to recoup the entire tax amount you paid to Envoy. Sorry, you are going to have to go out of pocket on this one. Also, be prepared to repay the $5000 ATP-CTP cost. Envoy sends a collection letter fairly quickly, due within 60 days of same being mailed to you. They will mail you a W2 if you no longer have access to my.envoy. They follow the language of the contract you signed closely.

Can someone post a copy of the bonus payback language (with personal info redacted, of course)?

The agreement varies depending on when you were hired. It’s been tweaked over time as people found loopholes.

What are the loopholes? Anyone getting pestered by the company?

Its a bit like urban legend around here, with some saying they know people who have gotten off with no repayment while others say people have had the book thrown at them. I think there is some truth to all of it honestly and ultimately is determined by which version of the document you signed.

The real question here just begging to be asked.

Why would you leave a job at American Airlines?
