Quote: Does anyone know what they're doing about bases? I've heard the rumors about NY, VA, TN, FL bases. If they're really targeting third tier airports, I could see it being an impossibility for most pilots to commute. How does one commute to ISP, for example? Most tertiary airports aren't going to have infrastructure to support commuters such as crashpads, a variety of airport hotels, public transit, etc.
I know someone who interviewed there. They do not want commuters. Neeleman didn’t even want JetBlue pilots to be commuters initially.

One leg to JFK then the LIRR is probably faster. But that’s also very high on my list of things I will not do.

SLC or ISP for indoc. 10 per class, 2 classes per month.

And as for commuters, earlier this year Breeze was offering pilots who lived within 30 miles of their base $1500/month for 30 months on top of regular pay. But that is not offered anymore, so I am not sure what their game plan is to attract quality pilots anymore.

That's hard to achieve. Experienced pilots are usually over dragging their family across the country every time their domicile changes... especially to Podunk Falls, that's tough on the wife.

HA and AS are known to filter applicants by zip code with that in mind, but they both have bases in places where some (enough) pilots really want to live.

Knowing where the bases are would be helpful. I’d certainly be interested in working here, but having to two leg commute or move to a place with a high cost of living for a wage I could make working at Target...I wouldn’t do it.

For those comparing Breeze to initial B6 pay, don’t forget about the stock options offered at both B6 and his previous startup WestJet. Both startups had their IPO in about 3 years and the early classes all became millionaires off the stock within a reasonable amount of time.

I'd consider that a nice bonus if it happens, but I sure wouldn't plan on it or include it in your decision calculus.

Plenty of folks in the bay can tell you all about the joys of working for stock options

While true that some in the early
Classes made money the majority of pilot stock
Options at JB expired worthless.

Also, breeze isn’t giving stock options because it worked out so poorly for many at jetblue as mentioned above, and the “stock options that will make you rich!” instead of real money idea backfired.
