Yes, welcome aboard. We just received an email for a bid for 50 more captain upgrades. 30 747. 10 777. 10 767. That should bring about hiring for at least that many FO positions and probably many more.

Sounds great! Now just waiting on that phone call! 😃

Probably should have 20 vacancies for Captain on the 767 instead of 10. Everyone I’ve talked to is supposedly bidding 777 or back to the 747.

Quote: I have to tell you that those of us coming over from ASA are so grateful for this opportunity. For the last few years we have watched younger, less experienced pilots get hired by majors while we were bipassed and deemed too old and “untrainable”. Kalitta has proved them wrong. I have heard nothing but good things from those already there and I’m counting down the days until I start ground school.
Welcome aboard, we love flying with guys who love being here. Say goodbye to non-reving, commuter hotels, and JRM.

That's what backfill is for.

Annie said today that we are at 540 on the seniority list. And, there are new hire groups of 18 scheduled every 3 weeks indefinitely.

My limited math skills put the end game of today's bid somewhere in the 700+ range.

Please be sure you bid what you want. And, you bid what you are ready for. It is a hard reality, but some of you are not ready. Just because you can hold the seat does not mean you need to be there.

Some of the smartest pilots I see in the schoolhouse are the ones who realize that they need a little more time before they bid the upgrade.

We work in a challenging environment. And, as most of you already know, you get sent out in the world without a whole lot of support from home. Be sure that you are up to the task of being Master and Commander before you check the box.

Just sayin'

Well, often enough, that decision falls on your lap if someone isn't ready, but who is left to upgrade? The majority of people who are going to bid this have two years or less with the company. We've ran out of 4+ year FO's with a few exceptions.

The last one was at 2 years as well, and a lot of the guys did just fine in training. DO NOT sit IRP every leg. DO NOT turn down landings, and DO NOT even think about upgrading on OPT. Those are the people that fail.
