ABX Air Hiring?

Subscribe
Hello All.....I've been hearing through several grapevines that ABX Air is planning to hire some pilots real soon. Any ABX guys out there who can elaborate on this any further?

Well they have just bought some Delta 767's. Figure a couple of months for those birds to hit the line after refit and cargo mods so the rumor is warranted.

yeah, I heard about the DAL 767's. That sale isn't set to be complete until sometime in '07 though, if I remember correctly. They're not all coming over at once.

Six of the 767s are coming on line in 2006. They could be additional flying or they could just be DC9/DC8 replacements. Two 767s are flying South American freight (non-DHL) out of Miami and the company is interested in more opportunities down there. With the sort hub integration at ILN happening, new hub at Riverside, CA plus the busy fourth quarter coming up, pilot staffing is probably status quo through the end of the year.

thanks for the info, SPEED. I'm assuming you're an FO on the DC9 there? How do you like working there and what are the working conditions like? When does the Riverside sort begin and is that a confirmed fact that they will be doing that?

Thanks.

I just called 937-382-5591 and followed the prompts. There is one for pilots who would like to submit resumes. Maybe something good happening soon??

Well, I guess if they're accepting resumes, that's always a good thing. Anyone know how they treat their newhires/reserves there and what the hard lines are like? Hours flown per month?

I am on furlough from ABX. I've been a hostage for 4 1/2 years. I am the next to go back so I have tried to get solid info but to no avail. The fact is they are not officially taking resumes however the DC-9 chief pilot told a 767 recurrent class if they know of anyone to bring in their resumes. No news on recall but they retired around 25 this year and will retire somewhere around the same for next year. 6 of the 767 will be online in 2006 and it will be in addition to not to replace the 8s and 9s. The only way to know for sure is to wait till after it happens. Ha! It is my guess if you get on it will be some time until you can hold a line. The good news is that as short as they are of pilots at least you will be flying instead of wasting time in the crash pad.

I can second all of Ultradrvr's comments...as you know it's tough to get info even when you're still on the line here. I didn't know if there was anyone left on furlough who had not been offered a chance to come back yet.

RE previous questions: The big hub merge happened in September and it took a while to get that running right. Having accomplished that it seems like we settled down to everything status quo through the holidays. Personally I'm expecting some changes in '06, hopefully that will include some hiring. I have heard that resumes are being accepted, I think you might need to have it walked in by someone, though. Yes the Riverside hub is running (March AFB). 7 airplanes now and rumors of more flying there in '06. Somone asked about new hire conditions. It's a good contract; great pay, good benefits, good scheduling rules. The glacial pace of upward movement, though, has meant a lot of guys on reserve for a long time. You can't sit reserve at home if you're a commuter, you have to be 2 hours from ILN.
