Letter of Warning

Guys I have a quick question. Back about 5 years ago I received a letter of warning for flying a plane with an expired registration. It was my fault. The FAA had just changed the rule and actually made registrations start expiring and I missed it. (Actually the guy I was renting it from did but I was the PIC so it’s on me too) So, is this a deal-breaker for FedEx? That’s the only mark I have on my record. That and a (read: one) speeding ticket a few years ago.

A letter of warning is an administrative action which remains with you for two years. It is supposed to be removed from the file after that time, though I've often seen it otherwise.

When asked if you've been the subject of investigation or enforcement action, however, one should admit it.

You should also have a copy of your FAA records.

I’m sure you’ll get: own up to it, be able to explain it, wasn’t a violation (but you should still disclose it). Is your time and experience competitive for FedEx? I’m wondering how they figured out the plane was flying? IFR flight? Ramp Check?

A friend of mine was recently hired at FedEx with a warning letter. His occurred in the last 4 years. It wasn’t a deal breaker.

I have no idea how they figured it out but they did. And like I say, other than that my FAA record is clean. I guess technically that letter isn’t even there anymore but I still am going to report it. And right now I am not that competitive. Just getting the app together and the thought crossed my mind. FedEx has always been where I wanted to land and don’t want this little slap on the wrist screwing it up. Was I in the wrong? Yes. But I owned it and learned from my mistake.

This.
Definitely not a deal breaker as long as you own up to it. I know a lot worse that have been disclosed and still gotten on with FedEx.

Only one way to find out.

Good to know! Thanks for the replies. Like I say, I’m a semi local to Memphis and FedEx is definitely the end goal!

Just for discussion purposes ...

I have friends at both American & FedEx that had GEAR UP LANDINGS on their records. I don't know what they told the airline during the interview?

Don’t sweat it. Own up to it and be honest.
