They have 3 types. Airport or ready reserve where you sit at the airport. That is 15 mins if they call you. Short call which is 2 hour call out. Long call which is 12 hour call out. They should try to use long calls first if they can. If they can't find anyone in that window or bucket then it goes to short call reserves. Then if its less than a 2 hour window they'll use ready reserves or airport standby.

Thank you guys, would they let you know in a 24 hour advance if they are going to change the call out from a 12 hour, to a 2 hour?

On Long Call Reserve, they give you 12 hours notice for anything. So, they notify you 12 hours out that you are being put on Short Call with 2 hour callout.

I haven't been on reserve in a few years, but I was never moved from Long Call to Short Call. Not sure how much it happens, but it never happened to me.

Nope, expect the minimum call out notice. Scheduling was adamant about not notiftying crews earlier than the minimum call out to keep their flexibility…
