Second half of 2020...? Meh, sounds like they’re banking on scope relaxing with out-clauses if it doesn’t.

I’ve heard of a plan to take all the 69/70 seaters and convert them to 65 seats for AA (I guess they have no limits on 65 seats and less) and then take the new ones as 175SCs. Rumor of course and would require no relaxation of scope.

30 seats up to and including 65 are limited to 75% of the total narrow body fleet at AA, 66-76 are limited to 40% of the total narrow body fleet.

How many 30-65 seaters does AA currently use? Maybe it was that there was a lot of room left for growth there or my source was BS.

IRCC AA was within 99% of the 75% rule. However, the 50 seaters are quickly being retired with the start of the CRJ200 and soon to be followed by the EMB145.

I can see some teeth to a 65 seat 170 rumor being the new replacement for 50 seat flying.

I've heard the same thing straight from the mouth of a C-Level Executive, for what it's worth.

Skywest is doing it with the CR7's. It wouldn't surprise me to see ya'll replace all your Delta and United 170's with 175SC's, then move all those 170's to AA at 65 seats, allowing AA to park some 140/145/CR2.

There are only about 20 CRJ 200’s leaving the PSA fleet and they are being replaced with CR9’s. Envoy is going to operate 108 140/145’s for the foreseeable future, and PDT is going to have 60 145’s. PSA is having the CR7’s reconfigured so that the 40 175’s that are coming to Envoy in the next two years can be accommodated. There really isn’t much wiggle room other than the Skywest birds possibly being reconfigured to allow for more 175’s.

I'm beginning to believe...
I'm beginning to believe that the unions at the majors are actually going to be able to hold the line on scope, with the possible exception of Alaska/Horizon neither of which have EVER had scope.

I think the majors are starting to resign themselves to buying A-220s (or maybe E-2s) as their 'entry-level' major aircraft while gradually upgrading their surviving regional affiliates to E-175s. Not a bad deal for regional pilots since many would simply move up to those new major jobs after "interning' at a regional.

Of course, Moxy might change all that.
