I finally found a part-time pilot job the part-91 world which came about because of an instructor I knew at a local flight school. He'd been working this same job but was moving on to something else and passed the job info. along to me. A simple phone call to the company owner and I was hired.
In addition to this ^^^, treat everyone you meet as a potential reference.
Different people, different values but if I’ve seen you treat FBO staff poorly you wouldn’t get a CFI job from me.
If you treat anybody poorly they may just decide not to tell you about that job opportunity they’ve just heard about.
Over the years I’ve been asked numerous times if I knew somebody to fly this or do that.
You may meet a 1000 people and one holds the Golden Ticket for you.
