Yeah, the smell of peanuts on your breath and a wrinkled “USA Today” used to be a dead give-away.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve comes with Priority Pass access. Most of our base airports will have some sort of PP perk, even if it's not a lounge. For example, at IND, you get $28 off your tab at the bar/grill at the end of the B concourse. I've had it since before I was flying, and it's been a good card.

Annual fee is $450, but it reimburses $300 for any "travel" related expense, making the effective annual fee $150. You can also use it for Global Entry/PreCheck every 4 years, on yourself or someone else, as I recall.

The Amex Platinum is another good card. It's fee is $550, but also comes with $200 worth of Uber rides, a $200 airline fee reimbursement, along with Delta Sky Club, their own Centurion Lounges (which are great), as well as Priority Pass.

The bottom line, don't let the annual fees scare you. Yes, it's a bit of a shock when you get it all in a lump sum one month out of the year, but you're saving money during the course of the year with the cards almost enough to offset them.

Airline-specific lounges cost a lot, and have increasingly been putting restrictions on when you can get in.

Even though the lounges often aren't quite as nice, the Priority Pass network is pretty great, and it's extremely global. You can find at least one PP lounge in just about every major airport in the world - perfect for layovers when traveling for fun.

American Express lounges world wide. Never had an issue whilst in uniform. Courtesy extended to my F/O too. Great place to cool one’s heels whilst waiting for the inbound jet... good food... quite place to review paperwork and of course darn good eats.

If you're anywhere in the SouthEast (Maryland to Florida) you can try SunTrust Bank. They've got a Delta Travel Card that can get you access with a cheap annual fee. They also have a debit card version as well.

So just list for a random flight out of whatever airport you want. I do it in LGA all the time. I've gotten in probably hundreds of times with my Amex and a Nonrev boarding pass.

Yep! STBY boarding pass works at UA too and I’ve heard it’s not a problem with DL also. I think AA won’t require the boarding pass until later this year. UA/DL changed it last year.

Can I get some free food too? Maybe some free health care? Free airline tickets? Free free free. Why should we pay for anything?

I’ve got an American Admirlas club membership but they raised the price this year. Used it yesterday in ORD while waiting to get a seat on a United flight. Probably going to dump the AA membership, even though I like their newly renovated lounges, and go for Amex Platinum card.

Note: The Centurion Lounge is a Day of Departure lounge requiring confirmed travel plans. Passengers holding standby tickets and non-revenue standby passengers, including airline or industry employees traveling on discounted tickets, are not eligible to utilize the lounge unless they have received a boarding pass showing a confirmed seat or zone assignment for the flight for which they are on standby.

Are they enforcing this? Sound like a no go with the Amex Platinum card.
