College Advice

Hello,

I am wondering if any of you have any advice in regards of college choices.

A little background, I am a HS senior wanting to become an airline pilot. I already hold my PPL and am continuing to fly and gain hours. My choice is between Embry Riddle Daytona and Florida Institute of Technology. I have received an ROTC scholarship to both schools, and they both offer room and board, so price is not really a factor (yes I know flight fees are another 70k extra, but that is both schools).

If you have any advice it would be appreciated. Thanks!

Haven’t attended either school, but I’ve been to both airports. Sat at the hold short line in Daytona for over half an hour, lined up with a dozen Riddle planes.

This has happened on more than one occasion and I have spoken with quite a few embry guys that have said it’s very common to get .7 on the ground prior to takeoff for their lesson.

You’ll become a pilot either way if you stick it out and study, but even if cost isn’t an issue I wouldn’t want to sit in taxiway gridlock every lesson for that long. I avoid flights to Daytona for that very reason. Melbourne isn’t that bad when I stop by.

Go to Daytona
If you have a scholarship for either I 100% recommend going there. Yes, there are issues with flight training but that is every flight school. There safety is top of the line and you will gain so much experience that other flight school aren't offering. Safety and maintenance are top notch.
On the University side of things, ERAU is a respected name across the industry. The people and networks you will make while being here are priceless. Looking back at my education there I would of done a few things differently but I don't regret going there at all.
